EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.
Beijing’s second installment of Drag Brunch is coming on Saturday, Dec 8. And this time, it will be with a Christmas red and green twist! Home Plate Sanlitun will be the venue and the event will once again be hosted by drag queen Ms. Anna Summers, with special appearances by other drag queens (all decked in fabulous Christmas ensembles). There will also be a performance by stand-up comedian-in-heels Longhu and the 京le Belles choir group to sing some Christmas holiday music and get us into the holiday spirit. The brunch is priced at RMB 300 including three hours of buffet brunch and unlimited drinks (happy hour drink prices after 3pm). Scan the QR code on the poster above for more information.
During the whole of December, all Oysterlicious Restaurant Group restaurants in China – in Beijing that’s C Pearl, in Xinyuanli – have pledged to donate RMB 10 for every oyster sold to Educating Girls of Rural China. Their goal is to raise RMB 300,000, which would support the education of 50 girls for a full year.
Weekly Specials at El Barrio
El Barrio has just introduced a handful of daily specials, including half-price tacos (pictured at top) on Mondays (we’re fans of the Baja fish tacos and the chili caramel pork belly). Tuesdays get you half-price fajitas (choose from lomo saltado or prawn saltado), while Wednesday is ladies night, featuring RMB 10 frozen margaritas for women from 6-10pm (sounds dangerous but we’re into it).
4corners has just launched a globetrotting selection of new cocktails and street food inspired tapas from all over the map. If you need an excuse to get down there and try it, from Dec 1-8, all new drinks are three-for-two and the street-style tapas menu is 20 percent off.
Finally, a reminder that Mosto’s 10-year anniversary celebrations, in which they have teamed up with other popular restaurants around Beijing to create tribute menus, is ongoing until Dec 8. TRB will be taking over the kitchen on Dec 5-6 and Hatsune will be taking over the kitchen on Dec 7-8. More details via our blog here.
